Are you looking for the best online video editor? Today I'm doing a WeVideo review.
I've done several videos on editing using iMovie, but I get questions all the time from those of you that are using PCs. And you say, "But I don't have a Mac, what should I use?"
I stumbled across WeVideo a few months ago. Somebody in my Facebook group mentioned it (shout out to Melissa!) and I had never heard of it before. So I went to do some research, and I've been very impressed. Here are the reasons why I am really liking WeVideo.
1. It comes with tons of free stock footage that you can use as B-roll.
If you are a real estate agent, you can type in the name of your city or your state or your country.
You can type in houses, you can type in seafood, or airports, or anything that you would want to use as B-roll footage in your video. And they have a ton of it, all free to use with your subscription (at the time of this post it's the Professional Plan and higher.)
2. They have tons of free music as well.
You can go on YouTube and go into the Creator Studio Classic and download free music, but if you're using WeVideo, they've got music right here in the software program. Just play through all the different music choices, choose the one you want to use, and drag it down to your timeline.
3. They have tons of motion graphics, lower thirds, and titles.
If you want to have your name pop up at the bottom of the video, like this.
If you want a motion graphic to pop up and act as B-roll, like this.
You can even make a frame like this if you wanted to play it on Facebook or Instagram where a more vertical or square format works better.
All of this stuff you can make in WeVideo for free with your subscription.
4. And speaking of subscriptions, they have different membership plans.
You can get the least expensive plan they have for $5/month ($60 a year.) You can also have a multi-user membership. So let's say you have a team, let's say that you have someone that edits the videos for you. I have a virtual assistant in the Philippines. I can record at my house, upload it into WeVideo, she can get it in the Philippines, do all of the editing, we don't have to send files back and forth, and we have a multi-user licensed so she's not logging in as me to be able to do that.
5. The reason that I think I like it so much is that it's totally web-based.
So it doesn't matter if you have a PC or a Mac, you can edit it in the app on your iPad for example, as well. So let's say I'm shooting this right now on my iPad. I have my iPad in a ring light on a tripod.
I'm filming it on my iPad. I can upload it directly into the WeVideo platform, right from my iPad.
Now, the functionality of the app itself is very limited, it'll let you do basic editing, but once it's in there, then later, when I go back to my computer, I can sit down and do as much editing as I want, or my virtual assistant can do it as well.
Because it's all cloud-based, you don't have these massive video files taking up tons of space on
your hard drive, either. Once you've uploaded it into the WeVideo platform, you can get it off of your computer. Maybe you save the original on a flash drive or on an external hard drive, but you don't have these 500 gig files taking up room on your computer. And let's face it, if you're making a lot of video, that happens sooner than you think. And all of the sudden you start getting those messages saying you're running outta room, you better do something, 'cause you got no memory
and no disk space left on your computer.
So WeVideo is my pick for the best online video editor. You can sign up for a free trial period and see if you like it before you commit to one of their paid plans.
It will have their little watermark in the corner of your video, but it will let you try it out and see what you think before you make any sort
of purchase decision.
If you try it out, let me know what you think!
